Who is Strawberry Hedgehog? Strawberry Hedgehog began when I, as a vegan college student, was having difficulty finding, let alone affording, quality vegan bath and body products. I started making goodies for myself, friends and family, named the product line after the beautiful local strawberry hedgehog cactus and it has just taken off from there.
This is a small-time but professional endeavor run out of my home. I make all of my own products in small batches in my kitchen. I have a ton of fun doing what I do and I think that shows in the quality of the products. They are all made with love and I am proud of the products I create, free of any animal products, preservatives, weird chemicals and artificial fragrances. I make the goodies, package, label, and ship them (with the occasional help from my most wonderful husband). I am the webmaster and photographer for this site and will even use some of my homegrown herbs in products now and then.
My husband, James, and I consider ourselves eco-conscious. We are both lovers of nature and all critters, with four furry babies of our own, all rescues of different sorts. We are proud to use biodiesel in our cars and James is a founding member and the director of the Arizona Alternative Fuel Alliance. When I am not making soap I am a geology graduate student at Arizona State University focusing on education and better understanding geologic hazards. I have taught students from 6th grade to their 60's and I try to incorporate concepts of sustainability into any class I am teaching.
I hope this has helped you to better understand where your Strawberry Hedgehog products are coming from and that you feel better that the reasonable prices here are supporting something/someone you feel good about. Thank you for visiting Strawberry Hedgehog!
Sincerely,
Tracy Perkins
